Earlier this term we took a trip to MOTAT! MOTAT is the Museum of Transport and Technology located here in Auckland.

On Wednesday I went  to  MOTAT. I saw the robot face. My buddy was Xayvion.

Our MOTAT Trip

On Wednesday I went to MOTAT with my school. First, we went on the tram. I had never been on a tram before so I was very excited. Next, we went to the skeleton and the robots. After that, we went and made calls on the old phones in the telephone room.

MOTAT

Yesterday I went to MOTAT. I went there on a bus. I went with my school. First, my group went on a tram and that was my first time on a tram. I was a bit nervous. I think we went there so we could learn about new things. Next, we went to a pink building. After that, we went to a playground because there was a playground next to the pink building and we wanted to play. There was another building next to the pink building and that was the building that had robots. Lastly, my group went to the fire engine.

Lockdown Learning

Welcome to the Hansen Class blog! 😁

Unfortunately we've had a bit of a rocky start to the year, with two lockdowns within the first four weeks of school, BUT we are proving to be incredibly resilient learners as we continue our learning from home.

These are drawings of things we saw while out on a walk with our families. Miss Nodder challenged us to pay close attention to our surroundings and draw the things we remember seeing on our walk when we got home.

Ultimate Natural Disasters

Welcome to our natural disaster post!

We learnt about volcanoes, tsunamis, bush fires, earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes.

We enjoyed learning about natural disasters. A natural disasters is a volcano, hurricane, tornado, tsunami, sand storm and blue storm. Natural disasters are very dangerous. A tornado is a very very strong wind. First a tornado is a funnel cloud, if a funnel cloud touches the ground it is a tornado. A tsunami is a big wave. A volcano is filled with lava and magma. A sand storm is like a tornado but it is in sand. That's a sand storm. A blue storm is a storm with thunder and lightning. That is what we enjoyed learning.

The things that were challenging were how long it took to publish the stories we wrote about the natural disasters. The other thing that was challenging was editing our publishing because I had to ask the iPad experts. The super challenging thing was the writing.

Our next step is to finish our natural disaster publishing, then Miss Nodder is going to print them and make little books for us.

Hungerball

Hello Bloggers!

We are learning about how to kick in Hungerball. We even learned how to play with hockey sticks. We even learnt how to play with big balls and small balls too. In Hungerball we were learning how to use hockey sticks to get the ball away from our goal. It was fun.

I enjoyed being in the game for 15 rounds with Agnes. At first Agnes wasn’t paying attention to the ball but then I gave her advice, then we stayed in for 15 rounds. Now she is soooooooo good at Hungerball. I also enjoyed being in Agnes’ team.

What I found challenging was stopping the ball from going in the goal. It was hard. My buddy was Krisha and we were in for lots of rounds, almost 20 rounds!

Our next step is to make sure we pay attention during games like Hungerball so goals don't get scored against us.

Concept Learning

Dear Bloggers,

We are learning how to be healthier. We are also learning how plants grow. We are learning what different fruits do for your body and how they keep you healthy. We are also learning about how we can 'eat a rainbow'.

We enjoyed learning about healthy eating and our wellbeing. We enjoyed learning new facts about plants and putting them on Explain Everything. We enjoyed eating a rainbow. We enjoyed doing our art about healthy eating.

What we found challenging was trying to spell the tricky words. We also found replacing the pictures on Explain Everything a bit hard too. The hardest thing was to think about what we are going to write. It was very hard and challenging work.

Some people still have to finish their 'how to grow a plant' project and some people just have to get their's printed and then they will get hung on the wall. Some people have to finish the 'I can eat a rainbow' task and people that are finished are going to share with the class.

Flipping, Flying, Twisting, Turning

Happy Friday bloggers!

It's been a minute, but Harris Class is back with a new blog post!

The last few weeks have been very busy and we've been doing lots of fantastic learning. Some of that learning has been in P.E.

This term we have been lucky enough to have a Sport Auckland coach come to our school to teach us how to do gymnastics. Last week was our last session and we got to go to a proper gymnasium!

Tornado in a Jar

Mālō ni everybody!

This term we have moved onto learning about tornadoes and yesterday we made our very own! How, you ask? Well! Let us tell you.

Renesmee - Today I have created a tornado in a jar. We used glitter to make it look like the tornado was sucking all of the stuff off the ground. The tornado is created by centripetal force.

Mohamed - I shook the jar to make a tornado. The glitter represented the debris that gets sucked up by the tornado. The centripetal force is what pushes the air to the middle.

Malia - We shook a jar and we made a twister. We made it look like a twister. We put soap, water and glitter in the jar. The centripetal force makes a twister by pushing the air to the middle.

Awan - I shook the jar to make a tornado. The glitter represented the debris that gets sucked up in a real tornado. A centripetal force is the air that's pushing the water and that's how you make a tornado in a jar.
